I don't understand why they're calling it a misfire or a miscalculation.

London, you just built a skyscraper that is a giant friggin' death ray. In WWII, you'd be shouting about it at the Nazi's from your rooftops. This is freaking awesome.

What you need to do is cordon off the death zone and start billing it as a tourist attraction. Show the crowds how it boils water, or take a page from Edison's book and flambe some elephants!

Don't "fix" it. It's not broken.

You just didn't comprehend the scale of your genius until after it was done. Now, you've got something mythical and awesome on the scale of Greek antiquity. Zeus could hurl bolts of lightning, could he? Well, we can melt your bloody car with our buildings. That's the attitude I want to see.

People these days; afraid of a little scalding death.

Architecture as societal statement. Start frying people in Vegas, move on to places that don't like disruptive activity. Shrug and laugh when people complain. Profit from name recognition.

The miscalculation was when they calculated a pleasant 36C hot spot and ended up with a 72C spot... Wtf, how bad do you have to be at logic to not realize the number is off?. 36 is like a warm summer day...

Fucking architects... God damn Frank "overrated one trick pony" Gehry buildings do the same thing. Cause all he does is crumble paper and then his elves/minions turn it into a building. I studied architecture for five years and somehow these people have a job and I don't...

That story really annoys me, because it's all just a publicity stunt. So you're quite right, it was indeed a big success at what it was intended to do. Only problem is that the hotspot probably doesn't actually

exist.

Except he's a dumbass who blamed his simulation tools instead of himself. Actually, the lack of simulation. They could've done up a program that simulated all positions of the sun for that specific part of London but nope! he cheaped out.
